Education

Go Jags! I am proud to be a college graduate from the University of South Alabama. My Undergraduate Degree is in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade Elementary Education and Kindergarten through Sixth Grade Special Education. I loved "South" so much that I decided to continue my education there, where I obtained my Master's Degree in Pre-Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade English for Speakers of Other Languages. Fonde Elementary is the *perfect* school to begin my career at, and I am thankful to have gained so much knowledge at South. #ProudJaguar

Experience

Fonde Elementary is an exceptional school that creates a family-like atmosphere, and I am so thankful to begin my education career at such a wonderful place. Rather than beginning my teaching career immediately after graduating with my Undergraduate Degree in 2016, I decided to postpone teaching while I dedicated myself to learning about English as a Second Language during my Master's Degree program. I completed the program in May 2017, and the 2017-2018 school year will be the first full-time teaching job that I will have had. Mobile County Public School System is dedicated to advancing the lives of students, and I am excited to join the team while working at Fonde.

Bio

My name is Megan Long, and I teach 4th and 5th Grade - Math and Science - in Room W5. I am excited for a great school year at the first year-round school in Mobile County. Although I LOVE teaching, I have other passions in life as well. I enjoy spending time outside with my friends and family (including my two fur-babies). Hiking, camping, and kayaking are just a few of the many activities I enjoy, and you will most always see me with my two dogs, Jager and Gunnar, when I am not at school.

Growing up, I moved around frequently because my dad was in the U.S. Navy. Upon graduation from college at the University of South Alabama, I moved to a small town outside of Washington D.C. for a year in order to be closer to my parents and extended family. This was a wonderful experience, but I consider Mobile my home and I could not think of a better city to begin my career as an educator.

Thank you for visiting the Fonde website! I hope you are able to find what information you are looking for, but if not, please send me an email and I will help you out. I am thankful for the opportunity to teach at Fonde Elementary this year, and I can not wait to share my love of learning with every student that crosses my path throughout the year.
